Exchanging & presenting Engineering Data (Bill of Material, design reports, input files from other applications) may also require interfacing with Microsoft Office applications and Databases. We use MS Office Developer APIs for interfacing with MS Word, MS Excel & MS Outlook, and ADO.NET for SQL Server. The Internet is quickly permeating all aspects of our lives and the Engineering Industry is no exception. We use HTML/DHTML and ASP.NET to create web based applications which communicate and drive CAD applications. Data is shared over the web using XML file formats. We follow structured software development practices like creating detailed requirements specifications, design specifications (we use UML if that's necessary), building test suites as we develop code (Extreme programming philosophy), code reviews, and ensure that good error handling and error recovery is built in our code. |
